Plan Now To Eliminate Credit Card Debts

Use Credit Well

Your credit card can be a big source of convenience or can be a chain of financial slavery. By the time you sit down and plan your own regular budget, it is unavoidable to include the credit card payments as vital part of the monthly expenses. It can indeed be a reality bite for some of us when we add up the total amount of all of our credit card payments. There are times when we get disillusioned and even sickened by the amount staring directly at our faces. However, you can capitalize on this emotion and make it a dynamic force in prodding yourself to make the necessary and important steps to finally eliminate your credit card debt.

We all know that credit card debt elimination can be a complicated process most especially if you are a chronic swimmer in the lake of debt. Just think of the big chunk of your income going to credit card payments and you will surely realize that the money could have been spent somewhere else.

Credit card payments can come in different sizes. Some people are regularly paying just a few hundred dollars. However, there are also who are paying the same as that of a car payment or probably a little house payment. You have to always remember that this is quite a big challenge on a lot of debtors because just paying the minimum rate required is surely not the way to be credit free. What’s more, there are also some who could not even continue paying even just the minimum. The result could be a big financial mess.

So what are the important steps in order to eliminate credit debt? I think that we should begin inspecting first our commitment or willingness to finally plug the financial leak. Without a strong commitment and will on the part of the debtor it would be virtually impossible to proceed. And this is non-negotiable. Period!

The next thing to do is stop using your cards. It is time to cut them up. I have a friend who froze her cards in a lump of ice and put them in the fridge. I know this is already extreme but serious situations call for extreme measures. You have to force yourself to meditate on the serious consequences of misusing your credit cards. Make a cooling off period with your relationship with the credit cards to make sure you will never again use the credit cards on impulse.

The big reason why a lot of people are relying on the convenience and help of credit card is because most are not building up their savings. Or maybe you have some money intended for retirement but virtually zero for cases of emergencies. Then it is time to develop the habit of putting up a savings account for life’s emergencies. Don’t believe that just because you have a small income, it would be impossible to put a saving account. Even a small amount of just $10 or $20 every month into that savings account can already be your first step in establishing a small nest egg.

Accumulating in your saving account an equivalent of about 3 months worth of your regular monthly expenses can mean that you will have a great nest egg that you can easily rely on time of crisis. If you think that you might not be prone to accidental circumstances costing some money, it is time to change your mindset on that regard. It’s simply not just true. I could cite of many examples of situations that can be wholly or partially alleviated with the use of cold cash.

Minimizing the use of your credit cards as well as opening a saving account solely for urgent situations is the right first steps in your goal of managing and eliminating the financial headaches associated with credit card debts. At this time, it would be easy for you to plan in gradually paying off the incurred credit card debt.

A debt-free life is much better!
